The positive effect of silicone on external coatings

With the increase in variety and new styles in home decoration, the growth of consumption of construction coatings has increased even more. People are looking for opportunities to find new models for their home, of course, choosing a new paint color can make the house feel new again.

Consumers are also looking for exterior coatings for outdoor spaces that have excellent weather resistance, long life and high UV resistance. At the same time, it is desirable to keep the appearance of the coating clean and to reduce the number of times of cleaning during the life of the coating and to use self-cleaning coatings.

By carefully examining silicone resins and the chemical compounds that make them up and using silicone additives, the pollution repellency of the coatings is taken into consideration. Also, dust repellency is covered from the surface.

Silicone resins include two-factor and three-factor silicone units, which three-factor silicone units determine the hardness and two-factor silicone units determine the flexibility of the resin. With the addition of organic functionality, properties such as water repellency, stability in alkaline environments And the compatibility with organic compounds increases and becoming reactive, the ability to create transverse connections, sticking to the sub-surfaces, causes the continuous property of the coating.

The existence of each of the aforementioned groups eventually leads to the formation of a network system of silicone resin, which is formed in the form of a water-repellent shell and prevents the penetration of water into the coating layer, which, of course, with the formation of holes and paths They allow water vapor to pass through and are known as breathing coatings. These paths with a special structure create a one-way flow and water vapor and gas leave the surface under the coating without damaging the coating. It prevents the penetration of water vapor and atmospheric humidity to the sub layer.

The mechanism of silicone action in a coating system is such that the silicone resin network creates a layer on the surface of the coating and fillers, which by forming a porous structure into the coating and with a regular arrangement on the surface of the layer, the property of water repellency in the form of drops. It increases the (Water Repellency) Therefore, the silicone resin network can increase the hydrophobicity of the coating to reduce the absorption of pollution and create a layer resistant to moisture and extend the working life of the coating.
