History

Ronass Chemical Producing Company was established at a site in Arak, Iran on September 17^th, 1974.

On November 22^nd,1974, construction officially began on developing the production site and building our first two Production Facilities.

The very first trees were planted at Ronass’ site during March 1975, and this was Ronass’ first investment in its goal of Environmental stewardship. Today Ronass has more than 10 Hectares of green space in its production site, 5 Hectares of which are known as the “Apple Orchard”.

Ronass produced its first product on an order from Mashin Sazi Arak (MSA) in 1975; the Ronass Anti-Rust Coating (909).

During this same period, Ronass quickly ramped up its product range to include various Decorative and Protective Coatings.

Today, Ronass provides the most diverse and wide-ranging product basket in the Iranian market which includes more than 200 products in the Decorative, Industrial, Protective and Marine sectors.

Ronass’ first female employee joined the company in 1975. Today, close to 20% of our workforce is made up of women who play a pronounced and effective role in our frontline and management teams.

In 1977, Ronass joined its first technical and industry related association: The Iranian Paint and Resin Manufacturers of Iran. Today Ronass is an active member of various technical and academic associations including:

Ronass relocated to its new Office Head Quarters in Ghaem Magham Avenue in Tehran.

Ronass acquires its first Central Warehouse in Tehran, Iran, helping to improve product availability in Iran’s largest market.

Ronass awarded a national quality award in the coatings industry by the Institute of Standards and Industrial Research of Iran (ISIRI). Ronass has gone on to receive this national award 7 times.

Ronass begins the construction of a new dedicated production facility for its Protective Coatings Division. This new lean and responsive unit helped to improve Ronass’ capabilities in meeting the needs of large projects that required the continuous delivery of a high variety of products.

Ronass strengthens its after-sales and technical support services through establishment of an independent department to support customers in coating system selection, application and maintenance.

Ronass began construction of its Alkyd and Polyester Resin production plant in 1993 and produced its first resin batches in 1994 under its subsidiary brand Ronass Pad. This new resin plant came equipped with two resin production lines, as well as a pilot R&D unit.

Ronass’ Research and Development Unit becomes the first such unit in Markazi province to receive a provincial R&D Permit. While Ronass’ R&D unit was established in 1975, with this permit it started to operate as an independent technical and educational hub with a mandate to continuously work towards product improvement and development, collaborate with educational and technical institutes, as well as carrying out various technical assessments for customers.

In 1997, Ronass began production of tin cans in US Quart and US Gallon sizes. This new venture allowed Ronass to be completely self-sufficient in its packaging requirements for its Decorative Alkyd Coatings range.

Ronass received a series of product quality certifications for its Marine and Protective systems from Germanischer Lloyd (GL) Product Quality Certifications.

Ronass enters the Marine and Offshore sectors with a variety of specialty, protective and anti-fouling coatings.

In 2000, Ronass received the “Green Industry” award from the Department of Environment in Iran, recognizing Ronass for its efforts in Environmental Stewardship.

In 2004, Ronass successfully adopted and implemented ISO 9001 Quality Management System, helping to better cement and structure a continuous improvement framework towards quality and business process improvement.

Ronass completes the expansion of its Central Quality Control Laboratory and R&D Center. Ronass’ Central Quality Control laboratory is recognized by the Institute of Standards and Industrial Research of Iran (ISIRI) as a reference laboratory and provides third party services to many industries all over Iran. The facilities have been managed using ISO 17025 guidelines since 2010.

Ronass was recognized in as the top industrial unit in Iran by the Ministry of Industry, Mining and Business in 2007 in terms of its product and service quality, fair market practices, as well as its high employment standards.

Ronass Anti-Fouling Systems were recognized to be in accordance with new International Maritimes Organization regulations for TBT-Free Anti-Fouling coatings, and its Anti-Fouling Coating (RTB-1338-R) receives type approval certification from Det Norske Veritas (DNV).

In 2010, Ronass became the first-ever paint and coatings producer in Iran to be awarded the highly prestigious National Consumer Award from the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Business. Ronass received this recognition in six consecutive years.

The Protective and Marine Coatings division expands its capabilities through the construction and commissioning of two new production facilities meant to further reduce lead-times and improve service levels, as well as better service the needs of high volume, high product variety projects.

Ronass commissions its new Polyethylene Bucket Production facility, becoming self-sufficient in meeting its packaging needs for its water-based Decorative PVA product range.

In 2014, Ronass completed the production of its Precipitated Calcium Carbonate Pilot Plant. This new venture was designed and developed entirely with Ronass’ in-house technical knowledge and capabilities.

Ronass, as a part of its commitments to environmental stewardship and occupational health and safety, implemented ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 management systems to ensure that a structured and best practice approach towards continuous improvement is established and strengthened in these areas. Ever since our establishment, we have recognized that Ronass is a member of society and that the people we engage and the planet we reside in are what enable us to operate in a sustainable manner.
